Provision And Support Of Webcasting System And Audio-Visual Equipment – this contract included the complete replacement of the existing audio-visual equipment and webcasting system used in the Council for the delivery of public meetings from the central Council Chamber (a beautiful Grade 2 Listed Building) and in other council or community venues across the district. This included the replacement of screens, cameras, delegate speaker/microphones, PA system and induction loop. R&W was tasked with the design, supply and installation of equipment and webcast system and also the design and supply of a portable audio-visual solution to enhance quality, functionality and ease of use and to maximise citizen engagement. The system was designed to drive collaborative public engagement practices & be flexible and scalable and to accommodate a range of different council meeting styles in offices and community venues across the district. This project was a great opportunity to use technology creatively to support council communication, collaboration and sharing activities.
Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade – this contract was centred around architectural & emergency lighting design and installation in accordance with recent changes in electrical regulations – BS7671:2018. Our priority was upgrading the electrical infrastructure to be compliant with current safety regulations which included the installation of three phase power supply; changeover of building earthing and CPC; replacement and installation of emergency LED fixtures, installation of new sockets, removal of SP distribution boards and the introduction of RCD and RCBO protected boards; and of course testing & certification of the installation. We then had the privilege of getting creative to design and install corridor lighting, bar lighting, and presentation-case lighting with instructions to maintain the stylistic-integrity of this period property (built in 1876) and for the lighting (and other AV and access technologies which were to be installed as part of a future R&W contract) to enhance the activities of the tennis club.
Video Conferencing Solution - For this contract, we were responsible for the design, supply and implementation of a portable video-conferencing system for use by schools and universities. The client had a requirement for a number of professional scalable and portable video-conferencing systems to support their communication, collaboration and sharing activities; in particular for the education sector; specifically for live-streaming of student lectures/masterclasses and performance events to benefit a wider community. The contract involved designing, supplying and configuring a bespoke video-conferencing solution with associated programming and configuration to tailor to the specific needs of the end user, which in this instance was unified control, low-latency, and a simple-to-use graphic user interface (GUI). This project was a great opportunity to showcase our work with control systems for a network of universities who are now working with us regarding the commercialisation of the solution so that it may be rolled out across the education sector.
Audio & Video Infrastructure Upgrade – this contract involved upgrading the recording and Audio Visual (AV) facilities in 2 studios and a teaching room at the RNCM, Manchester. The programme of work included the installation of commercial displays, touch screens, speakers, microphones, PA systems, control systems, lecture capture, networking, rack builds, media storage and distribution, cable management and acoustic treatment; to future-proof and also integrate with existing technical systems across the college campus. The brief was for the AV-system-architecture to become an academic driver. We integrated broadcast-level equipment combined with the standardisation of the required AV equipment and easy-to-use (touch- screen) user interfaces for students and lecturers to control the venue’s equipment - ultimately to promote learning and collaboration. R&W was selected for its specialism in system integration and it’s capability to provide the end-to-end solution to upgrade the audio-visual facilities and technical infrastructure.
Audio-Visual Installation – this contract involved installing a suite of camera’s and recording and streaming facilities into this popular and award-winning Manchester comedy club. The system was designed to integrate with the venues existing infrastructure and to capture in high definition those special moments on stage for distribution on the club’s chosen media platforms. This was a great project to use technology in a stylistically simple way to promote the club’s activities and further engage with the venues customers and share the acts of household names and talented breakout artists.
